New BLOG-SITE!

Hey everyone.... It's a work in progress, but one that I think I can unveil... I've been busy developing my BLOGSITE, and as I mentioned I believe it is the most cost effective way to showcase my daily work, link to a flash gallery (still working on this) to showcase my portfolio, have contact information and general infomation about me and my photography.

{{ Edited to add.... the main reason for this switch a touch early was I wanted to showcase bigger photos and this seems to be the best way to do it!}}

the web address to the NEW BLOGSITE is:

www.lifesweetenedphotography.com/blog

Drop by, check it out, let me know what you think...

S & M Engagement Shoot Proofing Gallery

Here are some more proofs from the photo shoot I did with my sis. Below you'll find the proofing slideshow for S & M's engagement/family shoot. They are all photogenic and very easy to 'shoot'. I am very proud of these images, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! When you watch in full screen, they can be a bit pixelated, try to watch on a normal screen and make sure it is HQ mode! Also, once it loads, on the bottom right hand corner is a small google emblem, click on it and select smooth video. I have no idea how I can fix this, I'm new to Picasa. Enjoy.

I had the opportunity to take pics of my sister and my brother in law to be. It was great fun! We hit downtown and found some cool architecture and got some amazing shots. Here is a sneak peek of the couple shots, there are more to come. As well as family shots of S and M with my beautiful neice T! As well towards the end we managed to sneak in a couple a pictures of the cousins. I will blog all about those later! Ciao! Enjoy!

I am.. DLS exercise...

This week's DLS exercise is something I can do without natural light! I have yet to do my self portraits... I am to think of 10 things that "I am.." This is hard and I have been contemplating about this all day. Here goes...

I am a mommy who would love to be a SAHMommy!
I am a wife
I am a sister and daughter
I am creative
I am a Teacher
I am an amateur Photographer with dreams of becoming a professional photographer (with education, perserverance, practice, and patience ~ it WILL happen).
I am determined
I am afraid of failure
I am kind, approachable, quiet, a perfectionist, and soft spoken
I am *stuck on the last one* -

I will edit to add #10 when I can come up with it....

Who am I as a photographer??

I have been reading many blogs as of late of those in my DLS group and others. Which is making me look inside and ask myself Why? Who am I? As well as do I need to step back..
Why? Photography has become an artistic outlet for me. When I was younger I was into painting, and drawing, etc... I was the district art award winner for my community. Since then I have had no artisitic outlet where I can just be me, do my thing, and be proud of what I can do. I have done quite a bit with my life the short 29 years it has been, with many many more ahead of me! However, I have followed the normal path - graduate, go to university, graduate, enter the workforce, get married, have kids - all of things I am extremely proud of. However, I needed something that let the artist in me shine once again, and with photography I think I have found it. I am by no means a professional photographer (hopes, yes.. but I don't feel I am deserving of that title yet... in the future I hope...) Photography has let me capture my families moments (my children's moments) that I don't ever want to forget, and lets me capture them in a way that when looking at that picture years down the road I will remember and flashback to that moment and those exact feelings I had at that time.
Who am I as a photographer? Can anyone really answer that? Isn't it always evolving and changing? This is a tough question. However, onto Kerrie Jay the photographer... This is tough.. I hope to capture all facets of LIFE - children, family, couples, marriage, maternity, etc... As a photographer I am someone that looks to capture the 'sweet' moments of life that want to be remembered and frozen in time forever. I don't want stuffy, cheesy pictures. I want to capture my subjects candidly as possible, as I believe those are the best shots. The ones that truly need to be cherished.
What sets me apart? I can't answer that yet, I believe I have a style of my own, however, it cannot be defined through words, but only through pictures.
I do look at many photographers blogs to see what they are doing, what things I could maybe incorporate into my style and into my art. What they use for backgrounds, arrangements, props, etc... I don't believe that makes me less of a photographer, I believe that makes me a photographer and helps me grow, build my repitoire and my 'bag of tricks'. I believe my style will constantly change and evolve, and my art will change and evolve as I change and evolve as a person.

Okay that is all... However, I am still unsure of my #10 I am.. Thanks for reading... :D For those that follow, your support is greatly appreciated!

Birthday fun!

Miss MH turned three this weekend and we joined in the festivities. This was also a good excuse to bring out the camera and practice more of my photo taking skills. Here are a few pics of the kiddos. Also, check out the new watermark! I am quite proud of it! My sweet boy, Owen... I love his blue peepers!

My princess pea Emmalea! This isn't a great pic of her, but one of the better ones I was able to take of her. She is non stop moving as of late. She sees the camera and turns in the other direction!

I love the above pic of M blowing out her candles! It looks great in bw too!

and of course my cutie patootie nephew B.
... until next time... Kerrie

DLS homework - Rule of Red

The rule of red. I get it, however at the time this is what I decided to shoot. The top of the overflowing toy basket that just so happened to have a creepy Santa doll in it. It works... Not my favorite, but it is the rule of red no less!
